There are very seductive offers available starting off at
something like 5 US$ a month. Even there might be some very
rare exceptions - mostly you'll be lost once something is
malfunctioning. Support is always human and therfore cost-intense...
Every hosting system will eventually malfunction. By then
you'll learn about the qualities of your host. Quick and qualified
support teams are the backbone of any high level hosting system.
:: Backup your Files ::
Whatever is promised by your host, never trust them on the
safety of your data. Backing up your files is one of the most

This way it's possible to measure and compare the speed of
data travelling - from the host to your machine. If there's
not a satisfying result (in comparison) it's better to choose
another host. Availability or Up-time of your site should
be "guaranteed" by 99.5 to 99.9% (there's no such
thing like 100%).
:: Features ::
Most hosting companies offer a reasonable variety of features
included in their packages. In many cases you can order on
top - if you really need one specific feature such as real
audio/video, SSL, ServerSideIncludes, Frontpage 98 support,
PHP, MySQL or similar. However it shows that you're mostly
better adviced to choose another package or another host,
since add-ons are apparently expensive (installed once - charged
every month!)
